What Sizes Should I Order for a U10 Team?
For a U10 team, order mostly youth medium and youth large. Kids at this age (typically 8 and 9) have mostly outgrown youth small, and the bulk of the roster lands in medium with the bigger players in large. Add extras in medium and large, plus one youth small for the smallest player on the roster. As always, size up when a player falls between sizes.
A typical U10 size breakdown
For a 12-player U10 roster, start with 6 youth medium, 5 youth large, and 1 youth small, then add 2 extra mediums and 2 extra larges as spares. U10 is where size spread really shows. You may have a small 8-year-old and a tall 9-year-old on the same team, and both need to look like they belong in the same kit. This is also the age where some players start caring about fit, so avoid ordering everything in one “safe” size. Our guide to choosing youth team kits covers the ordering process end to end.
Collecting sizes that you can trust
At U10, parents’ guesses get less reliable because growth is uneven. Ask families for the child’s current t-shirt size and their height if they know it. Flag any player whose size is a guess and order their jersey in the larger of the two candidate sizes. A jersey with room to grow lasts the full season. One that is snug in September will not. For the youngest-skewing rosters, compare notes with our U8 size guide. General sizing background lives in the Complete Kids Soccer Jersey Guide.
Plan for the season, not just day one
Order with May in mind, not August. Kids grow during the season, and a jersey that is perfect at the first practice can ride up by the playoffs. When a player is between medium and large in the fall, large is the right call for a full season of wear. Your future self will thank you.
